What a LASIK guarantee usually is
Almost every refractive clinic, in Colombia or the US, offers some form of enhancement policy. An enhancement (retoque in Spanish) is a second treatment to fine-tune vision when the first result undershoots or regresses. The policy says when that second treatment is free or discounted. It is not a promise of 20/20 vision, and it is not a refund.
Enhancements are not rare. In monovision LASIK, one review reported enhancement rates around 20 percent. The number is lower for standard distance correction, but it is common enough that the policy deserves as much attention as the price.

Obligations of means, not results
Colombian medical law and court practice generally treat a doctor's obligation as one of means (obligacion de medio): the duty is to apply proper skill and care, not to guarantee an outcome. Written warranties can add promises on top of that, which is exactly why the written policy matters. If a clinic's marketing says "guaranteed results" but the paperwork says "enhancement at the surgeon's discretion," the paperwork is what counts. This is general information, not legal advice.

- "Lifetime" coverage with no mention of exam requirements or surgeon discretion. Real policies always have conditions.

- A promise of a specific visual result.
